Guilford Woman Re-sentenced for Role in Pyramid Scheme
Five women have been sentenced for their roles in the scheme, but only two received prison time.

GUILFORD, CT - The leader of a pyramid scheme involving “gifting tables” has been sentenced to 30 months in prison, the Hartford Courant reported.
Jill Platt, the accused scheme leader, was resentenced in court on Monday, according to the Hartford Courant. She was originally sentenced to 54 months in prison, but the case was returned over errors in the way monetary losses were calculated.
The court found that scheme leaders preyed on people who they knew could not afford to invest $5,000, which was the initial payment to enter the layered scheme, the Hartford Courant reported. Five women have been sentenced for their roles in the scheme, but only two received prison time.
