Injured Duck Rescued in Guilford on Tuesday

A Guilford resident, Gil Schaper, is credited with rescuing a female Common Merganser duck that was injured on Durham Road earlier Tuesday, the Police Department said on Facebook.

“A big thank you to Gil Schaper who rescued this female Common Merganser duck...,” The Police Department stated. “Gil kept her calm and warm until Guilford Animal Control was able to respond and transport her for treatment. A big thank you to all the travelers in the area who stopped to help while we were trying to scoop her up and bring her to a safe location.”
