January Guilford Employee Recognition Award Recipients Announced

GUILFORD, CT — Recreation Supervisor Ellen Clow and Parks and Recreation Administrative Assistant Jennifer Knight have been named the January recipients of Guilford’s Employee Recognition Award, town officials announced this week.

The Employee Recognition Awards Committee selected the two employees following a nomination from Parks and Recreation Director Pamela Gery.

Gery cited both women for "their exceptional dedication, creativity, and teamwork during the inaugural Wings N' Strings event held last July. Each secured sponsorships that helped offset expenses, demonstrating strong initiative and commitment to the department’s mission."

According to Gery, Clow secured thousands of dollars in donated products and oversaw operations of the event’s food tent, while Knight spent extensive time designing and preparing family games and activities featured at the festival.

Gery recommended both for the award based on their teamwork and professionalism.

Clow has worked for the town since 2007 and is receiving her second Employee Recognition Award. Knight, who previously worked seasonally, has served as administrative assistant since 2020.

Both employees received certificates and gift cards from First Selectman Matt Hoey.

Hoey, who started the program, has encouraged employees to nominate colleagues for recognition of outstanding achievement and job performance.
