Kids Will Be Kids: Guilford Police Rescue Wandering Goats
George and Misty, 4 months old, wandered off their property, taking advantage of a not tightly latched gate, and headed for the highway.
GUILFORD, CT — Dannielle Sidaoui's goats George and Misty took advantage of the not-quite-closed gate and meandered away from home. And toward Route 80. Luckily, Guilford police officers spotted the runaway kids and brought them home.
Dannielle told Patch the story:
"We live right off of Route 80 on Sugarbush Drive so close proximity to 80! Not sure exactly how far they were on 80 just that the police said that is where they picked them up. They must have been gone about an hour or so before I realized they were gone."

Dannielle works from home and spends her lunch breaks with her goats.
"I play with them in my yard supervised and then lock them back in their barn and playground area that has a 6 foot chain link fence to protect them from predators and or keep them in. I must have not put the latch down all the way, and they got out after I went back in," she explained.

George and Misty are just kids, literally, around 4 months-old.
"They're still babies, bottle-fed in the mornings and very curious and playful," Dannielle said.
Panicked when she discovered them gone, she called police.
"I don’t know if someone saw them and called the police but that is what I’m assuming," she said. "I was in tears and so distraught at that point."
Then police said they had her kids, and they were safe and sound and on their way home.
She shared the news, and her gratitude, on her Facebook page and the Simply Guilford community page.
"A big thank you to the Guilford police department for saving our goats George & Misty! The gate was not fully closed today, and they made it all the way to route 80! So happy to have them back home safe and sound!"

"I think when left to their own devices they can be frolicking about. They are super sweet and sit on your lap like a cat or dog. I don’t think they know they are goats," Dannielle said. "They are people centric and not goat centric!"
