Larry Santamaria Feeds Guilford With His Heart, Cooking Skills

The town's cook, he's spent his lifetime helping to nourish the community. Now, he's being honored by the town he serves.

GUILFORD, CT — Larry Santamaria, who grew up in his grandparents Guilford market, fought and was wounded in Vietnam. When he came home he was committed to making a difference in the lives of veterans, and his community. That he has done. Patch profiled the man who has for decades fed countless veterans and residents at VFW and town events, and he's cooked for those most in need, Meals On Wheels.

Monday the Guilford Employee Recognition Committee selected Santamaria, the town's kitchen supervisor and cook, for a Town of Guilford Employee Recognition Award.

"Larry’s devotion to Guilford Seniors, making sure that our kitchen is run well with delicious meals, and his ensuring that everyone had meals while in isolation during the COVID-19 crisis, as well as his major role helping the Guilford Food Bank in an emergency, has gained him this recognition," a Facebook post reads. "Thank you Larry for all that you do."
