Longtime Guilford Public Schools Employee To Retire After Over 30 Years Of Service

GUILFORD, CT — Terri Fiondella will retire from her role as executive assistant to the superintendent of Guilford Public Schools on Oct. 2 after 31 years with the district, according to an announcement from Guilford Public Schools.

Fiondella began her career with the district as a clerk to the Board of Education. She later worked in communications before becoming executive assistant to the superintendent.

In that role, Fiondella served four superintendents and provided support, guidance and institutional knowledge through decades of changes and growth in the district, GPS said.

Colleagues have relied on Fiondella for information about district processes, personnel and past decisions, according to the district. She also helped manage Central Office operations while supporting staff throughout the school system.

"Working in the GPS district for almost 32 years has been a privilege. I’ve been blessed with working directly for superintendents who have treated me with respect and valued my services and input," said Fiondella in an announcement on the GPS website.

"I’ve seen many changes over the years but one thing remains constant, Guilford is one of the best school systems in the state with faculty and staff who are the epitome of professionalism and dedication. I will miss the day-to-day operations and will especially miss the camaraderie with my co-workers in Central Office as well as the staff that I interact with in the schools on a daily basis."

Superintendent Paul Freeman said, "Terri has been an amazing partner in the superintendency and her contributions to this district and community have been invaluable. I have been enormously fortunate to have worked with her for every one of my 15 years in Guilford, and this town has been lucky to have her."

GPS credited Fiondella with leaving a legacy of knowledge, dedication and service, as well as relationships and memories developed over more than three decades with the district.
