Majority In Police Survey Say Department Is Doing Good Job

Most of the 109 people who responded to the survey said they feel safe, and that police are responsive, make them comfortable and are open.

GUILFORD, CT — The majority of the more than 100 who completed a police survey say that they feel safe in their neighborhoods, are well-protected by Guilford police and that the department and its officers are responsive and helpful.

The Guilford Police Department completed its biennial citizen satisfaction survey, one where it measures its performance, citizen perception of officers' attitudes and behaviors and resident's safety concerns.

One hundred and nine people responded.

"The results were in large part favorable to agency and performance," a news release about the survey results reads.

The data shows the majority who took the survey said police respond promptly, and that the police officer, "made them feel comfortable."

The survey also found the majority reported feeling safe in their neighborhood and the town, and that Guilford police do a good job of letting people know about police-related incidents, especially on their Facebook page.

"As a progressive law enforcement agency, the Guilford Police Department constantly strives to improve the quality and effectiveness of its operation. This biennial survey is only one of several tools used to conduct a constant internal review of our agency," the news release reads, noting that the department and its officers "take pride in presenting a positive image of law enforcement to the public."
