GUILFORD, CT — Eight-year-old Rayan Ahmad started taking piano lessons last year. He also began composing his own music at the same time. Now, the A.W. Cox School second-grader is performing his own compositions.

Ahmad's mother Treeny said, "his teachers have been very supportive of his interest in composing, and he has performed original pieces at his last three recitals."

His latest piece was performed at a Zoom recital organized by his teacher, Frances Taylor, who teaches at the Guilford branch of the Neighborhood Music School.
