Methadone Clinic Approved In Guilford: Report
Patients from Guilford, Madison, North Branford and Branford are expected to utilize the facility, Hearst CT Media Group reported.

GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Planning & Zoning Commission this week approved plans for a methadone clinic at 439 Boston Post Road, the former site of Play Café, according to Hearst Connecticut Media Group.
Hearst CT reported that the APT Foundation is aiming to open the 4,093-square-foot outpatient clinic in July or August. Regular health care services will also be offered.
Commissioner Kevin Clark voted against the site plans, saying the applicaiton was fast-tracked with no public input from the community, Hearst CT said.

APT Foundation Chief Executive Officer Lynn Madden told the commissioners on Jan. 3 that the location was chosen based on need.
Approximately 75 patients from Guilford, Madison, North Branford and Branford will go to the clinic per day between the operating hours of 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Saturday, Hearst CT reported.

APT was founded in 1970 by members of the Yale School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and is among the oldest treatment programs in the U.S., according to the foundation's website.
There are clinics in New Haven, West Haven and North Haven.
