Good Morning, this is first Selectman, Matt Hoey.

Find out what's happening in Guilfordfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

As we wake up to the aftermath of this storm, I am pleased
to say that there were no reports of serious injuries or deaths as a result of
the fast moving and powerful storm. We have nearly 160 incidents logged into
our Emergency Operations Center. Our
Public Works crews worked until dark last night and are back out working to
clear trees and open up roadways.

Our crews are able to work on and remove trees that do not
involve wires. We have approximately 40 trees down that involve wires. Prior to
working on these, we need Eversource personnel, known as “make safe crew” to
shut down the power on those lines. We are currently awaiting the deployment of
such a crew in Guilford. We continue to push Eversource management to deliver
those resources. Once we have the crew(s) out priority will be to open up the
major roadways first and move onto the secondary roads.

I realize that many of you are without power and we will work
closely with Eversource to ensure restoration work begins as soon as possible.
Eversource is reporting that Statewide, nearly 605,000 customers have been
affected and in Guilford, 8,430 out of 11,063 customers have been impacted.

To help residents with cleanup efforts, the Stump Dump will
be open every day this week, including Saturday. The hours are 8:30 AM to 3:00
PM.

Please stay away from downed power line as you should assume
they are live. Additionally, do not attempt to drive through blocked roads.

Thank you
