New Principal of Adams Middle School Named

GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Board of Education has appointed Michael Regan to the position of principal of Adams Middle School, effective March 1, 2019. Mr. Regan, currently the school’s assistant principal, will work side by side with the current principal, Catherine Walker, as co-leaders of the school until her retirement on June 30, 2019.

We are deeply grateful for Mrs. Walker’s years of service to the Guilford Public Schools and know that the valuable time she will spend with Mr. Regan will ensure a smooth transition for them both.

Guilford welcomed Mr. Regan back to our school district in 2017 following his roles as assistant principal for Nathan Hale-Ray High School in East Haddam (2015 - 2017) and dean of students for LEARN - Marine Science Magnet High School in Groton (2012 - 2015). Earlier in his career, Mr. Regan worked as a social worker and director for Guilford Youth and Family Services before first working in Guilford Public Schools as a school social worker from 1998-2012.

We are very excited to have Mr. Regan back in Guilford in a leadership role. He brings his extensive experience in education, his understanding of our schools and community, and his in-depth skills as a mental health professional. As Guilford Public Schools focuses on the social and emotional needs of our students by ensuring that our schools are healthy, safe and caring places for learning, we are confident that Mr. Regan will cultivate this culture at Adams and foster classroom environments in which students can feel safe to make mistakes and safe to succeed.

When asked about his new position, Mr. Regan stated, “I am incredibly grateful and humbled by the opportunity to be the next principal at Adams Middle School. As a person who grew up in Guilford, I have tremendous pride in our community. I have had an amazing opportunity to have Catherine Walker as a mentor for the past two years and look forward to the next chapter in the Adams Middle School history.”
