No Lifeguards At Jacobs Beach Starting Friday: Town Parks & Rec

Since lifeguards are seasonal staff and are college students, they're heading back to campus. Lake Quonnipaug is still fully staffed.

GUILFORD, CT — Beginning Friday, there will be no lifeguards at Jacobs Beach, the town Parks and Recreation department announced. The reason? Some seasonal staff, which includes lifeguards, are heading back to college.

But gate-guards remain on duty at the entrance, cleaning and administering first aid, as needed.

Beach hours have also been adjusted. Starting Friday, the beach hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
