GUILFORD, CT — Jacobs Beach in Guilford will be closed for swimming on July 17 and at least part of July 18 due to the discovery of high bacteria levels, according to an announcement from the town.

The beach and splash pad will be open, but beachgoers are asked to refrain from going into the water.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible Wednesday in Guilford, with temperatures expecting to approach 100 with the heat index, the National Weather Service says. The forecast will be partly sunny Thursday with a high near 85.
