Obituary: Barbara Claire Whiton, 74, longtime Guilford resident

Monday, November 28, 2022 Barbara Claire Whiton, 74, longtime resident of Guilford and most recently of New Haven passed away at CT Hospice, Branford. Barbara was born in Norwalk on April 9, 1948, daughter of the late Augustus Sherrill Whiton, Jr and Anna Jean (Overman) Whiton. Beloved sister of Paul Whiton of Rockland, ME; Michael Whiton of Bainbridge Island, WA; Geoffrey Whiton of Montrose CO ; Linda Whiton of Greenfield, MA and Margaret Tilton of Toccoa, GA. She is also survived by nine nieces and nephews; Sarah, Ember, Moriah, Grace, Jordan, Madeline, Jason, Daniel, and Kevin.

Barbara was a 1966 graduate of Wilton High School, New York University and Barnard College in 1971. Before retirement she had for worked as a researcher and assistant for the Epidemiology Departments at Yale and NYU for several years. She enjoyed art, music of all kinds but especially opera, photography, and graphic design.

Memorial services are being planned for the spring.
