Obituary: Gerard “Jerry” Smith, 72, formerly Guilford

Gerard “Jerry” Smith of Old Saybrook, formerly Guilford, passed peacefully on July 26, 2023. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shawn, and his adored children and ten grandchildren: Cori (Jack), Kyle and Kellan; Colleen (Martin), Caroline, Xander and Jaxon; Kevin (Ondi), Callen, Maeve and Sloane; Casey (Angela), Avery and Hannah. Preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kyle Elizabeth. Jerry is also survived by numerous in-laws as well as many nieces and nephews. Jerry will always be remembered for his immeasurable kindness and goodness. He treasured life with his family and they will miss his constant love and warm smile.

Friends will be received at the Guilford Funeral Home at 115 Church Street. on Tuesday August 1 from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Saint George Church, 33 Whitfield Street at 11:00 am on Tuesday. Burial will take place at Saint George Cemetery, Hubbard Rd, Guilford immediately following the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kyle E. Smith Memorial Scholarship through the Guilford Foundation, 44 Boston Street, Guilford, CT 06437.
