Obituary: James Scott Lee, 81, of Guilford & The Villages, FL

A "very hardworking and generous man," Mr. Lee was the owner and operator of T & J IGA Supermarket in East Haven for more than 50 years.

James Scott Lee of The Villages, Florida and Guilford, died unexpectedly Monday January 17, 2022 at his home in Guilford. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Suzanne Tamplin Lee for 59 years.

Mr. Lee was born in Sharples, WV on February 3, 1940 son of the late Robert E. and Ruby Browning Lee. He was a very hardworking and generous man. Jim was the owner and operator of T & J Supermarket in East Haven for over 50 years. He cherished his childhood in West Virginia and had great stories to tell. He loved his family tremendously. He also enjoyed spending time at his home on Block Island sitting on the front porch.

Besides Suzanne, he is survived by his children, James Scott Lee Jr (Jennifer) of Madison, David R. Lee (Jenifer) of Deerfield, NH and Jennifer O’Brien of Branford; his sisters, Debbie Thompson of Clothier, WV and Becky Morton of Romeoville, IL; and his seven grandchildren, Scott Lee III(Emily), Matthew Lee(Samantha), Jacob Lee, Jack, Lee, Victoria Lee, Declan O’Brien, and Riley O’Brien.

Visitation will be Sunday January 23 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, with a service at 3:00 at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford.
