Obituary: James W. Randolph, 81, of Guilford

James, his family's historian, was an avid outdoorsman who loved being in the woods, tracking wildlife, fishing and archery activities.

James W. Randolph, 81, of Guilford beloved husband of 53 years to Ann Sanders Randolph passed away on December 8, 2020 in Yale New Haven Hospital. James was a lifelong resident of Montclair, NJ until 2018 when he and his wife Ann settled in Guilford, CT. with their daughter and her family.

James attended the Montclair Public Schools and graduated from MHS class of 1957. He subsequently attained a degree in Fine Arts from Rutgers University, and took classes through the years at the Pratt Institute in New York City. His professional career as a commercial/graphic artist began at McGraw Hill Publishers and ended at TRC, a subsidiary of Burns & Roe Corporation where he was Art Director, but also worked alongside the architects and engineers who developed nuclear power plants, water desalinization processes and components for aerospace ventures.

James was an avid outdoorsman who loved being in the woods, tracking wildlife, fishing and archery activities, for which he won numerous awards and trophies. He was his family's historian and had a keen interest in genealogy.

Beloved father of Jeffrey and his wife Sylvia with their children Noah, Ayla, Anissa and Sarina; daughter Amy (Randolph) Albe and her husband Joseph and their children Alessa and Sophia. Brother of Diane Lyle, Sharon McCullough and Karen Stephenson. Also survived by eight nieces & nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. James was born in Glen Ridge, NJ. on February 7, 1939 son of the late James W. and Hope Robinson Randolph.

Services and Interment will be private. Arrangements are in care of the PORTO FUNERAL HOME 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80) East Haven. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association 322 Eighth Ave. 7th floor New York, NY. 10001 or to the Arbor Day Foundation (Plant a Tree) arborday.org.
