Obituary: Lewis “Lou” DeSanto, 90, of Guilford
A woodworker, painter, and devout Catholic, he was a Korean War veteran who served in the Air Force and a corrections department lieutenant.
In loving memory of Lewis “Lou” DeSanto: husband, father and grandfather. Lewis passed away on February 25, 2022 at the age of 90.
Lou was a life-long Connecticut resident, where he and his wife Marlene of 68 years, raised four incredible children, Alicia, Tara, Keith, and Beth.

Lou was also an avid woodworker and painter. Those who visited his home in Guilford would marvel at the beautiful intricate pieces of furniture he artfully crafted in his garage. Lou also had a passion for painting still life imagery and many will remember his unique ability to breathe dimension and life to inanimate objects through his art.
A critical piece of Lou’s life was his commitment to public service. Lou was a retired Korean War Veteran, served three years in the United States Air Force, and over two decades as a lieutenant of the Department of Corrections for the State of Connecticut.

Lou was also a devout Catholic, a passion he shared with his wife, Marlene. Those who knew Lou may find comfort in knowing he is reunited with his wife and beloved daughters in God’s Kingdom.
Lou is survived by his two children, Alicia DeSanto and Keith DeSanto, his son-in-law Robert Yanzer, his four grandchildren, Jesse, Alyssa, Sean and Aurora and his great grandson, James Jagger. All those who knew and loved Lou mourn his loss and will continue to carry their fond memories with them through the years.
Friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, March 3 from 9 – 9:45 a.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford on Thursday, March 3 at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. George Cemetery, 49 Hubbard Rd, Guilford.
