Obituary: Lois Anna Burkle Terribile, 93, of Guilford

A Yankee fan, baker and seamstress, Lois was a Christ Episcopal Church​, Agricultural Society​, and Shoreline Square Dance Club member.

Lois Anna Burkle Terribile, died peacefully on December 22, 2020 at The Guilford House, Guilford, Ct. She was predeceased by her husband William John Terribile, Sr. of 66 years. She was born in Hamden, Ct on March 1, 1927 to Louis W. Burkle and Grace Augusta Palmer Burkle. She leaves six well-loved children, Barbara (Fletcher) Andrews, William Jr. (Suzanne) Terribile, Thomas Terribile (Janine Vitello), Alice Terribile (Jim Neilson). Raymond (Terry) Terribile and Janet (Thomas) Holberton. Lois also leaves 20 grandchildren, Justin, Sarah (Hartley), Stephen, Kiersten, Adrienne (Dubuc), Nathan, Jason Terribile, David David, Jill Remokitis, Terri Zimmerman, Jessica Ziolko, Joseph Baker, Jennifer Holberton, Ashley Holberton, PJ Sorensen, Jared Sorensen, Helen Andrews, Michael Andrews, Jacqueline Kramer and Brien McDonald. Thirty-one great-grandchildren with three additional on the way and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister Esther Johnson and brothers James Burkle, Edmund "Dutch" Burkle and Ludwig "Luddy" Burkle. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Julie Burkle.

Lois graduated from Lyman Hall and attended Stone School of Business. She was a long time member of Christ Episcopal Church, past Secretary of Guilford Agricultural Society, member of Shoreline Square Dance Club and Guilford Senior Citizens. She enjoyed camping with her family and was a member of Seashore Sams and the Clamdiggers and was affectionately know as "Mrs. Magoo." Lois was an avid Yankee fan. While raising her six children she became an avid seamstress making countless wedding gowns, suits for her husband and square dance outfits for both of them. She was also well known for her baking abilities (tarts, pies and pecan sticky buns). She will be remembered, loved and missed by many.
