Obituary: Matthew Joseph Sinclair, 54, of Guilford
A horticulturist, he enjoyed painting, karaoke, antique collecting, and was a talented guitarist, amazing songwriter and natural performer.

Matthew Joseph Sinclair, 54, of Guilford passed away on December 13, 2022. He was born on August 4, 1968, in Michigan City, IN, to Michael Sinclair and the late Kathleen Sinclair. He is survived by his devoted wife Eileen (Sundwall) Sinclair of East Haven, CT. He is also survived by his daughter from a previous marriage, Daisy S. Pope of Guilford, step-daughter, Sarah Bradley (Peter) and two step-granddaughters, Patricia and Isabella Bradley. He is also survived by three siblings: Peter M. Sinclair of Bridgeport CT, Jennifer S. Scharf (Gary) of Guilford CT, and Fredric M. Sinclair of Montreal, Canada. He also is survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins in the U.S., Ireland and England.
Matthew attended Melissa Jones Elementary School and Baldwin Middle School in Guilford CT. He is a graduate of Xavier High School in Middletown CT.

Professionally Matthew attended the Horry Georgetown Technical College in Myrtle Beach, SC where he received an associate degree cum laud in horticulture and golf course turf management. He interned at Augusta National Golf Club during the Masters Tournament. After graduation he became an assistant golf course superintendent at the University Golf Club in Columbia, SC. From there he returned to Connecticut and became golf course superintendent at Oronoque Country Club in Stratford.
In his personal life, Matthew enjoyed painting, karaoke, collecting antiques, and listening to music. He also had a love and talent for playing guitar, was an amazing songwriter and natural performer. He possessed a gift for talking to people and was quick to earn friends. He loved being outside and his connection to nature was evident in the horticulture work he so enjoyed. Above all, Matthew was a kind soul with an adventurous spirit that took him to many places. No matter where he found himself, he was loved and will be remembered as someone with a gentle heart who never stopped dreaming.

Family will receive friends on Friday, December 23, 2022 from 3 P.M. until the time of service at 5:30 P.M. in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private
