A happy hardworking family man, and devoted husband and father lovingly known as "Stubby," he was a heavy equipment operator and union rep.

Sunday, July 18, 2021 Michael Scott Stebbins, longtime resident of Guilford, formerly of Wallingford, passed away unexpectedly in his home at the age of 58.

Husband of Kimberly (Riopel) Stebbins. Mike was born in New Haven on September 4, 1962, son of the late Raymond Joseph Stebbins and Christine (D’Antonio) Stebbins. Loving father of Summer Elisabeth Stebbins, Mia Marie Stebbins and Michael Joseph Stebbins, all of Guilford. Brother of Carol Civitillo, Raymond Stebbins (Amy), and Deborah Rodriguez (Fred Lettiero) and a dedicated son-in-law, uncle, and godfather.

Mike graduated from Lyman Hall High School in 1980. Mike had been working for IUOE Local 478 as an operating engineer of heavy equipment for 35 years and was a Union Rep for many years. Michael, known lovingly as “Stubby,” was a hardworking family man. He was a devoted husband and proud father, with a strong love for his home and his dogs. He enjoyed cooking/grilling, watching his children play sports, and fishing. Mike was a happy man who always managed to live life to the fullest, with a never-ending supply of funny stories and jokes. Family and friends were what he valued most throughout his life.

Friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, July 23 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 24 at 11 a.m. in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford. Burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stebbins Family Education Fund, address to follow soon.
