Obituary: Stephen Anthony Shattuck, 76, of Guilford
A Griffin Hospital Nurse Anesthetist, he enjoyed ballroom dancing, baking, playing the French horn and, as a talented tenor, singing.
Stephen Anthony Shattuck, 76, who liked to be called Tony, passed away on September 8 at CT Hospice, with his wife and members of his family there with him.
Tony was born in Jeffersonville VT on November 5 1946, a son of the late Watts Shattuck and Grace Maloney Shattuck. He is survived by his loving wife Carmela Sanseverino Shattuck and step children Frank (Betsy) Stellato, and Stephen Stellato and grandchildren Lauren Frances Stellato and Joelle Mae Stellato.

Tony also leaves behind his brother William (Theresa, deceased), and sisters Elaine Shattuck and Virginia (Rick) Dugan.
Tony graduated from Rockville High School in Vernon Ct. and went on to receive a degree from UConn School of Nursing. He also received a certificate as a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), from the University of Michigan.

During his successful career as a Nurse Anesthetist, Tony worked at Griffin Hospital and several institutions in the state.
Tony was a lover of life who enjoyed many hobbies and advocations, including ballroom dancing, baking(especially bread and rolls), and being a number one fan of UConn Women’s basketball and the Boston Red Sox.
He loved music and in addition to playing the French horn, he was a talented singer who enjoyed lending his tenor voice to the choir at St John’s Episcopal Church. He received great pleasure from listening to music of all kinds from Broadway to opera, and loved attending all of the school productions in which Joelle and Lauren participated.
Tony really appreciated life and his cheering voice could usually be heard whenever he watched a game. He fully assimilated into Carmela’s large Italian family, and learned to appreciate all the customs and traditions that followed
Tony was buried in a private ceremony at St Agnes Cemetery on September 12 in accordance with his wishes. His life will be celebrated at a memorial gathering on Saturday September 23 at St John’s Episcopal Church on 129 Ledge Hill Rd, in Guilford at 11 in the morning. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St John’s Episcopal Church 129 Ledge Hill Rd, Guilford CT., 06437, or Loaves and Fishes, St Paul and St James Episcopal Church, 57 Olive St New Haven, CT, 06511.
