Obituary: Walton “Wally” Brennan, 80, of Guilford

On September 5, 2021, Walton “Wally” Brennan of Guilford passed into eternal rest at home with his family after a recent hospitalization. Wally was born in New Haven on July 19, 1941, son of the late James Brennan and Gertrude (Turner) Brennan. He attended Notre Dame High School for 3 years, transferring to Hillhouse where he graduated in 1959.

He briefly attended the University of New Haven before embarking on a career in the auto industry, and was the longtime manager of Tom Chevrolet in Branford.

He loved sports (especially baseball), the ocean, walks with his granddog, Delilah, and the outdoors. Wally was kind, generous, gregarious and lightened the days with love and laughter for anyone who had the pleasure to know him. He was a loving and devoted father to Paige Brennan, and was the proudest “Pop” to the three greatest loves of his life, his grandchildren- Ayden, Phoebe, and Eli.

He also leaves behind his daughter-in-law (whom he loved as his own) Kathleen Akgűn, his former wife and longtime best friend Ann Marie Brennan, his sister Mary Barone, niece Francine Barbarito, and his ‘second son’- nephew Edward Carboni.

Friends and family are invited to a graveside memorial service on Tuesday September 14 at 11AM at St Lawrence Cemetery , 280 Derby Avenue West Haven, CT. Attendees are requested to meet just inside the main entrance at 10:45AM for procession to gravesite.
