One Person Was Rescued From Boat Fire Off Guilford Coastline

Firefighters rescued a person who fled by jumping overboard. The Coast Guard and Guilford, Madison and Branford fire departments responded.

GUILFORD, CT — The Coast Guard, and the Madison, Guilford and Branford fire departments were on the scene of a boat fire off the Madison and Guilford coastline Friday afternoon.

The Madison harbormaster and local media confirmed that Guilford firefighters rescued one person who had abandoned ship by jumping overboard. That person is reported to be okay.

Branford Fire Chief Tom Mahoney confirmed that all the departments responded to the fire in the Long Island Sound.

Last month, a 70-foot yacht caught fire and sank off the Branford coastline.

The Coast Guard told WTNH that the craft is an approximately 50-foot sport fisher boat.
