Parks Supervisor Anthony Annicelli Gets Staff Recognition Award

The proof that Annicelli is doing a great job, colleagues say, can be seen at the Green, in the parks and on the fields of Guilford.

GUILFORD, CT —The Town Green is lovely, immaculate and inviting, so too are Guilford's fields and parks, school and town properties, which occupy around 120 acres. A dedicated crew takes care of all the sites and does so with at the direction of Parks Supervisor Anthony Annicelli who goes far above and well beyond to make sure the town looks tip-top, his colleagues say.

Described as an "outstanding employee," he's not only responsible for town and school property, he's also responsible for "hundreds of thousands of dollars of equipment, where he takes great pride in doing a terrific job, often working beyond regular work hours," said his boss Parks and Recreation Director Rick Maynard.

This week, Annicelli was named recipient of the Guilford Employee Recognition Award for August 2021, First Selectman Matt Hoey announced. Hoey, who initiated this program, has encouraged all employees to nominate other employees who should be recognized for outstanding achievement and performance in their work.

Maynard noted that Annicelli plans out the weekly work for his crew of six employees and three seasonal workers on Sunday, "which results in Guilford’s excellent sports fields and parks."

“Anthony holds himself accountable and strives to have fields/facilities in Guilford look very well maintained. I have had the pleasure of being at the fields and hearing people from other town’s comment on how professionally maintained the fields look,” Chow said.

And Rake, who has worked with Annicelli for more than five years, said he's seen Annicelli "overcome many parks maintenance challenges."

Not only does Annicelli “spend his nights preparing schedules, but that he has built strong working relationships with industry experts in ground maintenance products," Rake said.

"His success was evident by how well the Guilford Green looked this spring and early summer.”

Annicelli has worked started with the town as Parks Maintainer in July 2004 and was promoted to his present position in January 2014. He received an Employee Recognition Award certificate as well as a gift card from Hoey in recognition of his achievements.
