My family feels very lucky to live in a community like Guilford. We recognize that this is a special place and giving back to our community has been a strong priority for all of us. The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is continuing to expand and enhance learning opportunities for all students in Guilford while maintaining a fiscally responsible budget. I intend to focus on those policies and initiatives that directly impact the daily experiences of students by staying current with research based best practices. I also intend to listen to teachers, promoting their autonomy and ability to respond to the interests and needs of students while ensuring an equitable and engaging experience for all students.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have partnered with a variety of school districts across the state, working with both teachers and administrators to improve their literacy outcomes. I also have a doctorate in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in educational policy and school change. I am well versed in how local school boards work and can be at their most impactful.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
My stepfather taught me to measure twice, cut once. I am extremely detail oriented and thoughtful in more professional work.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I have an asset minded stance toward improvement. Both in and out of the classroom, I believe it is most effective to identify existing strength and build from there.
