Police Cruiser Damaged By Fallen Tree: Guilford PD

GUILFORD, CT — A police cruiser was damaged after a tree fell on top of it early Monday morning, according to the Guilford Police Department.

The officer inside the car was not injured. WTNH News 8 posted on the social media platform X that the cruiser was on Little Meadow Road when the incident occurred.

There are several roads closed in Guilford due to the storm that moved into the area during the overnight hours.

Guilford Public Schools, which was originally operating under a two-hour delayed opening, has canceled classes for the remainder of the day.

Residents are being urged to use caution if they have to be out this morning.

According to the Eversource outage map, there are 1,995 customers without power in Guilford as of 9 a.m.

The forecast calls for rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 4 p.m., then a slight chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service.

Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph. A coastal flood warning and a high wind advisory are in effect.
