Portable Pickleball Nets Added To Guilford High School Tennis Courts

Pickleball is widely considered to be the fastest growing sport in America.

GUILFORD, CT — Pickleball enthusiats will be able to get some extra outdoor matches in thanks to new portable nets which have been added to the tennis courts at Guilford High School.

According to the town, the nets were recently placed at the school's lower tennis courts.

The nets can be easily rolled out to the court for use.

"Staff ask if you utilize the nets, please put back against the fence," the town said in a Facebook post.

Pickleball is widely considered to be the fastest growing sport in America. According to USA Pickleball and the 2024 Sports & Fitness Industry Association Topline Participation Report (SFIA), the sport grew in 2023 to 13.6 million players in the U.S.

In the report, SFIA noted that pickleball grew 51.8 percent from 2022 to 2023, and a whopping 223.5 percent since 2020.

Pickleball combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong, and can be played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified tennis net.

Players play in doubles or singles with paddles and a plastic ball with holes.
