GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing on Nov. 2 on proposed amendments to the farm tax exemptions.

The selectmen are considering expanding the tax exemptions for farm machinery and farm buildings. The proposed ordinance amendment would raise the property tax exemption for farm machinery from $100,000 to $500,000 of assessed value, and from $100,000 to $500,000 for farm buildings.

According to the town, the Connecticut Farm Bill, which was passed in 2025, increased the maximum exemption for farm machinery and farm buildings to $500,000.
