GUILFORD, CT — For women who’ve been abused or families that have fallen on hard times and have nothing left- the Women & Family Life Center in Guilford is a beacon of hope. With a rapidly growing program- helping more than 1,000 people each year- the Women & Family Life Center is in dire need of upgrades. It’s been nearly 15 years since they’ve been able to invest in their facility.

Eversource is proud to support their Open Door Campaign, an initiative to help raise funds to refurbish the center’s space and expand their program offerings, company officials said in a news release.

“People come here for help. We have support groups that use the space and sometimes people come in off the street,” said Peggy Britt, the Executive Director of the Women & Family Life Center, in a statement. “We need to have the center that is ready and functional for the different kinds of work we do.”

They’re hoping to renovate the kitchen- to make it a meeting place, replace old furniture with flexible seating and tables, repaint the floors, and replace leaking doors or windows with energy efficient ones.
“We couldn’t run this place without the public’s support,” said Mirjana Toyn, the Development Director at the Women & Family Life Center.
