Nick said he’s been working at singing since he was in high school. He recalled working his “day job” and then singing until midnight.

“I think I can surprise a lot of people,” Nick said. “I’m excited.”

As for Nick’s performance, the judges were all in agreement it was Fradiani’s best performance to date. Keith Urban said it was a “great job” and such a good song for him to sing.

Jennifer Lopez said she really “loved it” and that Nick has a “radio ready voice.” She said it’s been amazing to see his growth in the competition.

Harry Connick Jr. said Nick’s rendition of “American Girl” was the perfect song for him and he added that he did a “great job.”

Fradiani also had some friends in attendance Wednesday. His Beach Avenue members Nick Abraham and Ryan Zipp, who live with Fradiani in West Haven, flew out to Los Angeles to see Nick perform live.

Prior to Wednesday’s live show, Nick wrote on Facebook, “Show night! Can’t wait for another chance to perform on the American Idol stage. Crazy to think we will be down to only 6 people after the show… Love you all!”

If Nick makes the top 5 of the show, he will go out on a national tour with the Idol contestants.

This isn’t Fradiani’s first time at the reality TV rodeo. He auditioned for America’s Got Talent last year with his Milford band, Beach Avenue, bandmates, performing original songs.
