Girls 8 and under participate for free at 20-week Intro to Hockey clinic starting Sept 10th on Sunday afternoons at East Haven Ice Rink

Shoreline Sharks, a girls youth hockey association, opened registration for their fall “beginner” clinics. Designed for girls from ages 3 – 16 to introduce the fundamentals of skating and hockey, the hour-long, weekly clinics start Sept. 10th and are held Sunday afternoons at the East Haven Ice Rink.
Two clinic lengths are being offered:

The Intro to Hockey Clinic gives participants a chance to try the sport in a shorter format, without any further commitment. The cost is $40 for all ages. At the end of the session, participants will have the opportunity to join the Learn to Play Clinic.

20-Week Learn to Play Hockey Clinic
The comprehensive Learn to Play Clinic builds skills in a fun and challenging environment. Girls are divided by age and ability into our SandSharks (3-10) or Junior Sharks (11+) and work on skating skills, puck control, passing and shooting. Tuition is $400. SandSharks 8 and under participate for FREE, and those 10 and under and new to the organization are eligible for a 50% discount.
The development clinics are led by seasoned hockey coaches, Bill Greim and Rick Gedney, who have coached at all levels, from beginners through the high school level, love the game and enjoy working with beginners. The USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM) is used as a guide and provides a proven systematic approach to age-appropriate skill development.

Greim, who is also one of the founders of the Shoreline Sharks, explained, “The Sharks organization is focused on development at all levels. Our Learn to Play Clinics are critical to our mission of giving girls of all ages and abilities the chance to try hockey. Being side-by-side on the ice with the kids as they learn the fundamentals of hockey is fun, but watching their self-confidence grow exponentially over the course of the clinic is indescribable. We work hard to give players and their families a positive experience that will be remembered for a lifetime.”
“Our philosophy of mixing skating drills with fun activities and games advances our goal to have each child learn to love hockey,” added Gedney. “The skill development and aerobic conditioning that ice hockey offers are unparalleled in youth sports.”
