Stray Horse Found In Guilford, Returned To Its Owner: Police
While on regular patrol, a Guilford police officer found a stray horse running on the side of the road.
GUILFORD, CT — A horse on the loose was recovered in North Guilford on Sunday and safely returned to its owner.
According to the Guilford Police Department, the horse, later identified as Comet, was spotted by an officer during regular patrol running on Durham Road near the firehouse shortly before 1 p.m. on Feb. 23.
Officers followed Comet to Sugar Loaf Road before they were able to get him to stop and slip a harness on. It took about an hour to locate the owner who lives off Race Hill Road near where the horse was first discovered, said Lt. Martina Jakober.

A 21-year veteran of the GPD, Jakober said she has seen several animal encounters in town, ranging from snakes and ducks, to even an alligator, and, most recently, a bison which escaped from 3B Ranch in Northford last summer.
"You never know what you're going to get in Guilford. We have to be prepared for everything," Jakober told Patch. "It's always an adventure."
