UPDATE: ID Released in Fatal I-95 Guilford Accident

A New York man died in the accident, while a Connecticut man sustained serious injuries.

Update 1:45 p.m. A Bronx, New York man died and a Greenwich man sustained serious injuries in a motor vehicle accident early Wednesday morning, Connecticut State Police said.

State Police say the vehicle, a 2010 Ford Ranger, driven by Kastriot Lulaj, 46, of the Bronx, NY, was traveling in the left lane near the Exit 58 on-ramp in Guilford when the car left the roadway and ended up landing from the overpass onto State Street in Guilford.

Lulaj died as a result of his injuries, while his passenger, Scott Phillips, 53, of Pemberwick Road in Greenwich sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries in the accident, State Police said.

Both Lulaj and Phillips were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

The accident, which led to numerous delays on I-95 and local roads, is under investigation.

Update 11 a.m.; One person has died, and another is in a hospital after Wednesday’s early morning accident in Guilford on I-95 and State Street, NBC Connecticut reports.

As of 11 a.m. State Street and I-95 were fully open to traffic.

Update, 8:30 a.m. Police say in an early morning accident in Guilford a car drove off of an overpass from I-95 onto State Street around 5 a.m., Fox CT reports. One person has died, and a second person was in the vehicle.

The road remains closed, and police are investigating.
