Treatment Upcoming For Lake Quonnipaug In Guilford: Town

GUILFORD, CT — Lake Quonnipaug in Guilford will soon be chemically treated with diquat dibromide to control the growth of non-native aquatic vegetation, according to an announcement from the town.

The treatment was originally set to take place on May 9, but it was rescheduled to May 16 with a rain date of May 19.

Once the lake is treated, users should not use water for the following purposes:

  • Boating, fishing and swimming: zero days
  • Watering of livestock: one day
  • Drinking and cooking: three days
  • Irrigation: five days
