Tree Removal To Continue For Several Weeks In Guilford And Madison

GUILFORD, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced that tree removal operations will continue on I-95 northbound and southbound in Guilford and Madison through March 21. The project started on Nov. 18, 2024.

"To ensure public safety, CTDOT is removing dead, diseased, and decaying trees. Additionally, trees and vegetation that have grown into the clear zone, the safety space along the side of the roadway, are also being removed. This work helps save lives in the event of a crash or vehicle leaving the roadway," Guilford said in an announcement.

Drivers can continue to expect right lane closures on I-95 north and southbound in Guilford and Madison until March 21 between 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday to Friday.

A new work week will be Sunday evening to Friday morning (same hours 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.). Traffic control signing patterns and state troopers will guide motorists through the work zone.

Modifications or extensions to this schedule may be necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions, Guilford said. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area. Work will not be performed around any scheduled holidays.
