A VERY SAXY NIGHT!

Saxophonist and Vocalist Paula Atherton Returns to Connecticut After a Four Year Absence!

SAX IT UP with Saxophonist and Vocalist PAULA ATHERTON and her Special Guest Rippingtons Keyboardist BILL HELLER at HOME Restaurant, 1114 Main St., Branford, CT on Saturday, October 18 as Blue Plate Radio’s Jazz at HOME Series continues!

Sax player/vocalist PAULA ATHERTON has shared the stage with such contemporary jazz notables as The Rippingtons, Nick Colionne, Chuck Loeb, Cindy Bradley, Gail Jhonson, Karen Briggs, Althea Renee, Matt Marshak, Four80East, David Sanborn, Bob James, Chieli Minucci and Shilts. Paula has also worked in the traditional jazz field; one of the notable performances being a week long engagement at the Blue Note NYC with pianist and jazz legend, Hank Jones. As part of Project 222 at this year’s Berks Jazz Festival, Paula tore the house down with her tribute to flutist Herbie Mann called “Herbie.”

PAULA ATHERTON has just completed her new CD slated for release in early 2015. Paula has promised to debut some of that music at HOME!

BILL HELLER is perhaps best known as the keyboard player with smooth jazz super-group (the) Rippingtons. He has just released his own solo collection, the excellent ‘Find The Way’. It fuses together jazz of varying complexions through the combined talents of guest performers (and Rippingtons band-mates) Jeff Kashiwa, Rico Belled and Dave Karasony plus fine work from Eric Marienthal Ronnie Gutierrez, Joel Rosenblatt and Dave Anderson. Some of Bill’s brand new music will be featured during his show with PAULA ATHERTON!

HOME Restaurant has received the 2014 New Haven Advocate’s Reader’s Choice award for Best American/Continental cuisine! A full menu is served during the show and there is no minimum! The bar is open late and PARKING IS ALWAYS FREE!
