WATCH: Stolen Car In Guilford Leads Cops To Remind, Lock Those Doors
In some towns, car break-ins and thefts are decreasing, due in large part to owners locking doors and not leaving keys inside, police said.

GUILFORD, CT — Monday night, over the course of just 15 minutes, a dozen cars, all unlocked, were broken into, some with wallets inside, and one car was stolen, police said.
For the past few years, Guilford police have been banging the same drum, pleading with car owners to lock doors and never leave valuables inside their cars, certainly not in plain sight.
The break-ins are a wake-up call, police said.

"Last night Guilford had a stolen car, unlocked with the keys left in it, and about a dozen unlocked cars entered. Some of these vehicles had wallets in them with all the details needed to steal identities. All of this happened in approximately 15 min.
"The areas of town are chosen at random, last night was south of the Green, but thieves like this one in the video come back to areas where they have succeeded in the past. If they find only locked cars they will cross that area off the list.
