Whitfield Museum Celebrates Make Music Day

The Henry Whitfield State Museum will join the free global celebration of music on the summer solstice with an outdoor performance by Kala Farnham on the front lawn of Connecticut’s oldest house. Make Music Day originated in France in 1982 and has grown into a global annual event on June 21, the longest day of the year. The Make Music Day event at the museum will be held 1-3 pm.

Kala Farnham crafts contemporary folk songs with roots and wings, weaving age-old truths into modern grooves. The 18th Connecticut State Troubadour and award-winning artist draws on a background in classical piano, musical theater, and therapeutic sound to offer a signature reinvention of the folk tradition — infusing fairytales, historical fiction, and narrative medicine into vivid portraits of the human experience.
