Will Beer Make You More Likely To Golf In Guilford?
If you enjoying golfing and beer, there's some good news for you this weekend.

GUILFORD, CT – One of the goals those who run the Guilford Lakes Golf Course have been looking to accomplish is to get golfers to keep playing long after the summer months or over.
A new strategy is being utilized to further that mission – BEER!

At the most recent Board of Selectmen meeting, the selectmen unanimously approved a motion to allow the golf course to serve beer during the first annual Octoberfest Tournament to be held at the course on October 28-29th.
Golf Pro Mike Papp told the selectmen that he has been working on coming up with new ideas to keep the golf course humming during the fall months – and tournaments are one of his ideas.

Papp said the Octoberfest tournament will feature a breakfast and and a themed lunch.
He said the beer will be served from a cooler – which will be monitored.
The town-run golf course has struggled to break even the past few years and hired Papp this past year, in an effort to make more money.
He has started programs, such as a youth leagues, to try and make the course more profitable.
