Yale New Haven Hospital EMS Awards Honor Guilford Firefighters, EMTs
Held during National EMS Week, a Guilford firefighter/paramedic was named Yale New Haven Hospital Center for EMS "Paramedic of the Year."

GUILFORD, CT — The Yale New Haven Hospital Center for EMS named Guilford Fire Department paramedic Jed Morrissey the "Paramedic of the Year" at its annual celebration, during the National EMS Week.
During the ceremony, EMS professionals are recognized for individual awards as well as unit citations for cardiac arrest saves, of which providers were able to meet the patients they saved.
And, it will come as no surprise that the Guilford Fire Department was honored with a Unit Commendation for the most 'Cardiac Arrest Saves' in 2021.

Guilford firefighters saved the lives of five people in cardiac arrests last year.
In a post to Facebook, the department shared that it was "fortunate" to be joined by the families of two who were saved.

Fire department members were also recognized individually for Cardiac Arrest Saves:
Fire department Assistant Chief Michael Shove, fire Captain Jim Considine, Paramedics Jed Morrissey, Rodney Hicks, Chris Ziemba, Chris Jones, Chet Crocco, Graham Dale and EMT’s Dave Lindgren, Brett Paolantonio, Donnie Venuti, Dan O’Brien and Cody Maillet.
Yale-New Haven Hospital Center for EMS provides training, education, and oversight for both aspiring and current emergency medical services providers.
The Hospital of Saint Raphael and Yale-New Haven Hospital have provided education and oversight to the emergency medical services system in the South Central Connecticut region since its inception in the 1970s. In 1989, they created New Haven Sponsor Hospital Program (NHSHP) to continue this mission as a joint venture due to some legislative changes.
The NHSHP provides medical oversight for American Medical Response (New Haven), Bethany Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance, Branford Fire Department, East Haven Fire Department, Guilford Fire Department, Hamden Fire Department, Madison Emergency Medical Services, Madison Hose Company No. 1, Madison Police Department, Nelson Ambulance Service, New Haven Fire Department, Yale New Haven Sponsor Hospital Area Response Physicians (SHARP) Team, North Branford Police Department, North Branford Volunteer Fire Department, North Haven Fire Department, North Madison Volunteer Fire Company, Orange Police Department, West Haven Fire Department Center District, West Shore Fire District, Woodbridge Police Department, Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Department, and Yale Student EMS as well as providing emergency medical training for EMS providers, 911 dispatchers, allied health professionals, and the community.
