HAMDEN, Conn. – Aaron C. Trump has been appointed general counsel at Quinnipiac University, according to an announcement made today by President Judy Olian. He also will serve on the university’s Management Committee.
“Aaron brings extensive legal and higher education experience to this critical role,” Olian said. “His broad expertise in the law across higher education and in the private sector will be tremendous assets to the Quinnipiac community.”
In his new role, Trump will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal guidance to Olian, the broader university community and the Board of Trustees. He will join Quinnipiac on Jan. 28.
Trump comes to Quinnipiac from the University of Southern Indiana, where he was vice president for government affairs and general counsel, and previously chief government and legal affairs officer. In these roles, he managed all legal matters for the university and oversaw the university’s interface with the Indiana General Assembly.
Trump holds a Juris Doctor from Washington University in St. Louis, a Master of Science in higher education and student affairs, and a Bachelor of Science in psychology, both from Indiana University.
Trump started his career in student affairs before transitioning to law in the private sector and then university law. In his most recent role, Trump’s expertise informed the university on a broad range of laws and regulations impacting higher education, including federal and state human resources and civil rights laws, contract law and athletics regulations, disability rights and institutional compliance.
“Joining Quinnipiac is an exciting opportunity for me for both professional and personal reasons,” Trump said. “I admire the impact Quinnipiac University has had on its students and broader community, and I look forward to contributing to the impressive upward momentum the university has enjoyed in recent years.”
