Absentee voting is available to all registered voters. Many people are understandably confused about absentee voting rules. Last year, voters received applications automatically. This year, you must request an absentee ballot if you need one.
The quickest and easiest way to vote by absentee ballot is to visit the Town Clerk's office, complete the application there, and receive and complete your absentee ballot before you leave. All registered Democrats may visit the Town Clerk between now and election day and vote early in-person. (Here is the Town Clerk’s website: https://www.hamden.com/243/Town-Clerk).

Alternatively, you can download the application electronically, mail it to the Town Clerk, and your absentee ballot will be sent to you. Complete the ballot and mail it back or put it in the Town Clerk drop boxes.

Highlights:
- You can only request an absentee ballot for yourself.
- If you need to vote absentee, do it now. The turnaround time is very slow when using mail. If you can, using the Town Clerk drop boxes is faster.
- You must sign the inner and outer envelopes of your absentee ballot or your vote may not be counted.
- Completed absentee ballots must be received by the Town Clerk no later than 8pm on September 14th.
- The Town Clerk office is open Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 4:15pm.
- The Town Clerk is located at 2750 Dixwell Ave. Drop boxes are located in front of the building.
- You cannot take your absentee ballot to your regular polling location. Mail it to the Town Clerk or put it in the Town Clerk drop boxes.
