'An Afternoon of Dixieland and Authentic New Orleans Jazz' in Hamden

The Hamden Art Commission will provide a glorious afternoon of Dixieland Jazz on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. as part of its 2014-2015 season of “Peter C. Hereld Sensational Sunday Performance Series.”

The concert will feature the Galvanized Jazz Band in “An Afternoon of Dixieland and Authentic New Orleans Jazz.”

The Galvanized Jazz Band is one of the most sought-after bands in Connecticut, voted the best jazz band in the state by Connecticut Magazine readers for many years.

For this performance, the group will welcome several special guests: vocalist Cynthia Fabiani, trombonist Craig Grant; and on banjo the local entrepreneur and irrepressible personality, Joel Schiavone.

The event will be held in the handicapped-accessible Thornton Wilder Hall, Miller Cultural Complex, 2901 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden.

Admission is $7 general admission/ $5 for senior citizens, students and children 12 and under.

Tickets are sold at the door only. The series is presented with generous support from the estate of former Commissioner Emeritus Peter C. Hereld.
