HAMDEN, CT — Hamden police have announced a temporary road closure on Dixwell Avenue on Monday, May 25 in observance of the town’s Memorial Day Parade.
The closure will take place from around 10 a.m. until 12 noon. The affected area includes approximately one mile of Dixwell Avenue, extending from Hamden High School to Hamden Middle School, according to police.
“The temporary closure is being implemented to accommodate parade activities and ensure the safety of participants and spectators as the community gathers to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country,” police wrote in a news release. “The Town of Hamden encourages residents and visitors to attend the parade and join the community in observing Memorial Day.
“Hamden Police Officers will be present throughout the event to assist with traffic control, ensure public safety, and participate in the day’s activities. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes and should expect minor traffic delays in the area during the event.”
