Hamden Vehicle Pursuit Leads To Arrest In Woodbridge Theft: PD

Thieves wearing face masks stole several valuables from an unlocked, parked vehicle in Woodbridge over the weekend, according to police.

Woodbridge Police Chief Ronald Smith said the valuables included a pocketbook, credit cards, a laptop computer, and cash.

Police responded to a residence on Deer Run Road Sunday at about 7:40 a.m. after receiving a report of a theft from a motor vehicle, police said.

The suspects fled in two vehicles, one of which had been reported stolen in Seymour. Hours later, Hamden police found one of the suspect vehicles, which was being operated erratically, according to police.

The vehicle fled into New Haven, where it crashed. Police took the driver into custody following a brief foot pursuit, police said.

During their investigation, police recovered several of the items taken in the Woodbridge case. Police searched a nearby area in New Haven and recovered additional property belonging to the Woodbridge victim, police said.

Woodbridge police arrested a 16-year-old New Haven resident, who was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, and criminal trespass. The teen is due to appear in New Haven Juvenile Court on July 1.

Woodbridge Officer Patrick Meehan is in charge of the investigation, which is ongoing.
