Hamden Man, Guinness World Record Holder, Named New Coach At Albertus Magnus College

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden resident and five-time Guinness World Record holder Angelo A. Rossetti has been named the new head women's tennis coach at Albertus Magnus College, Athletic Director Michael Kobylanski announced Wednesday.

Kobylanski noted that Rossetti is also a veteran player, coach, industry expert and author.

"I am pleased to welcome Angelo to the Falcon Family," Kobylanski said. "Angelo has carved out a distinguished career as a coach, player and instructor across several racquet sports. We are fortunate to have him join our campus community as our next head women's tennis coach."

Rossetti arrives at Albertus with decades of coaching experience at all levels. He is the Co-Director of Pickleville in New Haven, where he develops pickleball programs for players. He is also the past President of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Connecticut Chapter, first being appointed in 2018, and served on the USTA New England and National Sportsmanship Committees.

"Albertus Magnus College has over 100 years of excellence, including being the first residential Catholic college for women in New England," Rossetti said. "I'm excited to help continue and add to its excellence while inspiring young women to be the best version of themselves, on and off the court. It's a special bonus that one of those young women happens to be my daughter Maddie."

Prior to his time at Pickleville, he also was the Director of Racquet Sports at The Tennis and Fitness Center of Rocky Hill.

Rossetti holds countless teaching certifications while winning numerous awards in his career. He was named the 2007 RSPA (formerly United States Professional Tennis Association-USPTA) Open Player of the Year and the RSPA Regional Teaching Pro of the Year. He also earned the RSPA Tennis Industry Excellence Award in 2008 and 2009. Most recently, he earned the Racquet Sports Professionals Association (RSPA) New England President's Award.

As a pickleball coach, he was named the RSPA New England Pickleball Pro of the Year in 2021 as well as the Racquet Sports Industry Magazine Member of the Year and CT Masters' Games Athlete of the Year in 2023.

Rossetti is also an author, most recently of the book TENNACITY: The Tenacious Mindset On & Off The Court.

Rossetti is a 5x Official Guinness World Record Title holder for the longest pickleball volley rally, the most pickleball volleys in one minute, the longest pickleball rally, the longest tennis volley rally and the longest tennis rally, which is part of the permanent exhibits at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport Rhode Island.

Rossetti was a member of the University of Connecticut men's tennis team (Division I), was the mental skills coach for the Huskies' women's tennis team, and holds a bachelor's degree from UConn.
