Closures, Cancellations Announced In Hamden Due To Nor'easter Storm

HAMDEN, CT — Town officials are closely monitoring the developing nor'easter expected to impact our area this weekend. Our Police Department, Fire Department, and Public Works & Parks Department are working closely together with our utility partners and Town leadership to ensure public safety throughout the duration of the storm.

Residents should prepare for strong winds and the possibility of downed trees and branches, downed power lines, road closures, power outages, and difficult or hazardous travel.

Please avoid unnecessary travel if possible to allow for cleanup and emergency vehicles. Never approach or drive over a downed wire, and always assume that any downed wire is energized. If you have a concern about downed wires or downed trees in your area, call 911.

Call 911 for life-threatening emergencies or dangerous conditions requiring an immediate emergency response. Call the Hamden Police non-emergency line at 203-230-4000 for non-life-threatening storm-related concerns.

Town officials want to alert residents of the following changes due to the anticipated inclement weather:

Movie Under the Stars Canceled

The movie at Villano Park scheduled for Friday, September 25, 2026 has been canceled and will not be shown indoors at the Keefe Community Center this evening.

Miller Memorial Library Closure

The Miller Memorial Library will be closed on Saturday, September 26, 2026 due to the expected storm conditions, and will reopen Monday, September 28, 2026 at their regularly scheduled hours. All activities and meetings at the Miller Memorial Library scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026 are canceled. The library's digital branch is available 24/7.

Brooksvale Fall Festival Canceled

The Brooksvale Fall Festival scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026 has been canceled.

Outdoor Athletic Activities Canceled

All league games, practices, and other outdoor athletic activities taking place on municipal athletic fields are canceled through Sunday, September 27, 2026.
