Hamden High School Mainstage Ensemble is collecting toiletries at Miller Memorial Library, 2901 Dixwell Ave., according to Hamden Public Library. All items will go to the Keefe Center, and patrons donating toiletries may fill out a raffle ticket.
Suggested donations include toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, feminine hygiene products, soap, hairbrushes, tissues, wipes, lip balm, cleanser, lotion, deodorant, hand sanitizer, first-aid supplies and nail clippers. Baby wipes, diapers, blankets, socks, hand warmers, scarves and hats are also suggested.
The raffle drawing is scheduled for Monday morning, Nov. 9. The winner will receive two complimentary tickets to one Hamden High School Mainstage Ensemble performance of "Iphigenia 2.0."
Performances at the Hamden High School Auditorium are Thursday, Nov. 12, and Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. General admission is $15, or $10 for staff, students and seniors. Patrons can pay cash at the door, use a check payable to HHS Theatre or buy tickets online, where an additional charge of 50 cents applies to each paid ticket.
Hamden author and classics scholar Sarah Ruden will take questions after the Saturday, Nov. 14, performance. She will also present "Mythic and Powerful Women in the Classical World" on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The library lists the adult talk in Miller Memorial Library's Friends Room, with limited seating. Readers can register for the talk, though the page contains conflicting instructions: It labels registration both required and encouraged, and includes an online-event notice despite listing an in-person location.
