Hamden Resident Howard K. Hill Elected to Executive Committee of Conn. Funeral Directors Assn.

Howard K. Hill, CFSP, CPC, has been elected to his third term on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA). Hill, a licensed funeral director, is the owner of Howard K. Hill Funeral Services at 1287 Chapel Street in New Haven, Conn.

Hill is recognized as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) through the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice and as a Certified Pre-Planning Consultant (CPC) through the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA). He became a funeral director/embalmer in 1991 after completing professional schooling at The American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, Inc. in New York City. In 2004, he opened Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, after 10 years of work at local funeral homes.

Hill sits on the National Funeral Directors Association’s Member Resources Advisory Group and his funeral home is a recipient of the association’s 2011 Pursuit of Excellence Award. He is a Board member of The Community Foundation of Greater New Haven, the Community Action Agency of New Haven, and the Hannah Gray Home in New Haven, He is a member of the Greater New Haven NAACP, the National Association of Realtors, the Greater New Haven Chamber Commerce, the Greater New Haven Business & Professional Association, the Oriental Lodge No. 6, F&AM, PHA, and Archer Memorial AME Zion Church in Windsor, where his brother is the pastor.

Hill lives in Hamden with his wife, Nancy, and their two children.

The Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA) is comprised of funeral directors at more than 220 funeral homes. It is committed to the promotion and advocacy of high ethical standards in funeral service. This includes the development and presentation of ongoing professional training opportunities for practitioners and educational programs for association members and the public.
